Sometimes ideas and designs do not always go to plan. A couple of weeks ago I had a dream during the rising full moon. This dream gave me an image of a pair of earrings that I wanted to create around the moon - te Marama.
Great I thought and I went ahead and created a pair over the next couple of days. But they were wrong. Out of scale and I couldn't see what I needed to do to make them better.
So I decided to leave them. I decided to let the design rest and not force it to be something it didn't want to be. On Friday morning it came to me - what I needed to do. It was a simple fix of down sizing. Making the original outline smaller.
The stencils I use are hand drawn or I grab objects within easy reach of my environment. The end of a pen to create a small circle or a $2 coin to create a perfect circle. Eureka!!! My recycled rubber earrings came to life and to the original vision in my mind.
They are a timeless fashionable pair - black and white but opposing.
It was a really good lesson for me in patience. Anyone who knows me, knows I am a bit impatient. If I want something I want it now!! At times this serves me and at times it doesn't. This time patience was my friend and I am really pleased with what I have created.
The quote by Abe Lincoln is perfect to finish on:"Good things come to those who wait, but only whats left from those who hustle!"
